LIVING WATER DAILY DEVOTIONAL
RUN
TO WIN
18TH
JANUARY,
2022
EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Genesis 48 - 50; Exodus 1
READ: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
[24]Know
ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the
prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
[25]And every man that striveth
for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain
a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
[26]I therefore so
run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the
air:
[27]But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection:
lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself
should be a castaway.

MEMORISE:Not
that I have attained, or am already perfected, but I press on, that I
may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me

EXPOSITION
Every serious-minded athlete always aims at winning the competition. He wants to go beyond ordinary participation to lift the prize. There is joy in holding the trophy. It is the reward of hard work and diligent preparation. The prize and celebration of winning out-weigh the pains of preparation. A purposeful man runs with the prize/trophy at heart. This is the hallmark of a winner.

No
one wins by accident. Winning requires active and systematic
endurance. Winning a race requires purpose and discipline. We are
running towards our heavenly home for our heavenly rewards. You can't
run effectively if you don't have the needed internal strength - the
Holy Spirit. We are supplied with internal strength through prayer,
Bible study, and worship. These equip us to run with vigour and
stamina. Don't joke with them. They are the spiritual vitality to run
to the end. Train vigorously and diligently; not like an occasional
jogging. We run for something; we aren't running for nothing. Run
your God-given vision with the mind of winning.

An athlete that will win the trophy will obey all the rules of the competition. Otherwise, he would be disqualified. We must be careful not to run off of the track. Self-discipline and self-control play major roles in the life of a winner. He continues pressing on, until the competition is over. He allows nothing to hold him back. He is aware of distractions and hindrances; he does not allow it to cost him the reward of a diligent preparation. Every believer is a runner to heaven. To land safely at home, we need to beware of the devil, flesh, and the world with all its pleasure. Dare to commit to your heart the reward that awaits you in heaven, even as you go your way.
PRAYER
POINT:
1.
Father Lord, help me to be focused, purposeful and disciplined in my
race to heaven.
2. Pray for the grace of endurance in your
journey to the Promised Land, so as not to be discouraged.
3.
Pray that God will help every believer in Christ to make it through
to the kingdom of God, as His grace leads us home.
DO HAVE A BLESSED DAY
